Identification

Even the shortest of points or matches can reveal a player’s conditioning or fitness level. Shots or tasks that rely on conditioning are:

  1. Being able to sustain strong match play for several hours (aerobic)
  2. Being able to sustain a long rally and then be ready to play the next point in 25 seconds (anaerobic)
  3. Repeated actions/movements in stroke technique require strength training
  4. Repeated actions/movements in footwork require plyometric training
