Shots or tasks that rely on tracking skills are:

  1. Tracking skills are the cornerstone of all tennis technique.
  2. Groundstrokes require players to predict where and how the ball will bounce and intercept the ball where it ends up. The judging of the bounce is one of the most difficult skills for beginners to learn.
  3. Volleys require players to only know where to intercept the ball
  4. Players must learn to recognize spins, speed of the ball, trajectory, etc., and then know where to position themselves in order to best hit the ball
  5. Players must also recognize the cues that their opponents give as to the type of shot they are going to hit.
